Jesus, hidden in God’s wisdom

“The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth.” (Proverbs 8:22-23, NKJV)

Proverbs 8 gives us a complete rundown of the excellence of wisdom. Wisdom is personified in the person of Jesus. In Proverbs 8:22-29 we read about wisdom being there with God since the beginning, even before the foundation of the earth. Everything was done through Wisdom, nothing was formed without the Wisdom of God, which is Jesus.

Wisdom was there in the beginning, just like the Word, just like Jesus.

John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (NKJV)

Jesus was the Word that was with God, that was spoken by God through His Wisdom when the creation was spoken into existence. (Proverbs 8:30)

Today, we are dwelling in the consequences of God’s Word of Wisdom spoken throughout the world. We are the fruits of His craftsmanship. We were never meant to be the mere creation of God, but even more. The blessed sons and daughters of God.

The blessings that flow from Wisdom is the same as the blessings we have in Jesus.

Wisdom says: “Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways.” (Proverbs 8:32, NKJV)

Jesus says: “But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”” (Luke 11:28 NKJV)

Wisdom says: “Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD;” (Proverbs 8:34-35 NKJV)

Jesus says: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” (John 17:3-5 NKJV)

Christ is Wisdom, and whoever finds Christ, finds life-eternally and abundantly (John 10:10). To have Christ means to have life. Whoever has Jesus has obtained eternal life and the favor of God, who is well-pleased with all who are in Christ. We cannot obtain God’s favor through our own efforts; we find it in Christ as we find Him.

If you need wisdom for a difficult situation, a decision or for life. Seek Jesus who is Wisdom. If you get to choose where you will seek your guidance from, Who better than the One Who has been there since before the foundation of earth. The One who knows all things, the Author and Fulfilment of wisdom.
