“who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” (2 Timothy 1:9 NKJV)

God placed a heavenly calling on our lives even before we were born. Our calling is not dependent on our goodness and works, but on God. We often make the mistake that God will use us according to our strengths and talents and that may well be the case at times, but the truth is, His calling on our lives is not depended on what we are good at, but it is determined by His purposes.

“God never changes his mind when he gives gifts or when he calls someone.” (Romans11:29 GW)

Our mistakes cannot disqualify us from the calling God placed on our lives as we did not earn our calling in the first place. God ordained it according to the way He uniquely created each one of us for what He wants us to achieve on earth. Even before we accepted Jesus as our savior, God already had a good plan for our lives and it was engraved in the palm of God’s hand.

Our mistakes could delay God’s will for us coming to pass, but it cannot remove it from our lives as God always has the final say and when He has said something over our lives, it will ultimately come to pass.

When we look at some of the most successful inventors, speakers, pastors or business men of our time, they were not necessarily the ones that were the best at what they did. Some of them were labeled as not being good enough, some people even said that they would never amount to anything. Some speakers were so scared of speaking in front of people or even had a speaking problem. Some of the greatest minds of our times where shot down by their superiors or teachers as young children, but what the world despised or saw as a weakness, God used to create purpose in that person’s life.

What we do well does not flatter God and does not determine how He is going to use us. It is only by His grace that He calls us and brings His will to pass in our lives.

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God—those whom he has called according to his plan. (Romans8:28 GW)

When we sit and think about it, we realize that nothing about us qualifies us for God’s purpose as it is solely based on Him who chose each one of us individually for the plan He has for each of us. It takes all the pressure away from us when we realize it is not about us, but all about Him.

Sometimes God’s plan might seem impossible or maybe it appears to be too small and humble. When we stick to God’s plan and remain obedient, He will bring it to pass in His perfect timing and in a way we would never have been able to do it ourselves. Even the simplest plan might turn out to be so big that when people look at the outcome they will know it could only be possible if there is a God. God’s plan for our lives leaves His signature on us so that people cannot deny His existence and presence in our lives.

It does not matter what we think about God’s plan, because whatever it is, He will work it out for our good. It might not come in the package we thought it would. But when we open the ribbon, we will be amazed and the consequences of it coming to pass in our lives cannot be compared to anything we had planned for our lives.

Give God a chance, He knows what He is doing even when you do not.
