Life is mostly about what you get, but what about what you can give?
We all enjoy receiving a blessing, but what about being a blessing for someone else?
We are God’s hands, feet, mouth, ears and eyes to a broken world. When He uses us to bless someone, we never walk away depleted. Instead, we are revitalized as we served God’s purpose and become blessed ourselves. God did not call us to be served but to serve.
Jesus was our perfect example when He came to earth to serve His people. We read in John 4 that He did not come to serve His own will, but the will of His Father. As He served God’s people, Jesus was nourished and strengthened as people took from Him. Jesus understood God’s heart for serving others. Jesus washed His disciples’ feet and showed us that no person is too important to be good to other people and to serve them.
When we serve God, we serve people.
It takes great humility to do the small things that could change someone’s day. It is often a mere kind word, a tender hug or a helping hand that can change the course of someone’s life. It is not up to us to know what someone needs, but when we look for opportunities to be a blessing, God will use us in amazing ways that will bless us in return.
We do not need people applauding us for doing something. Our calling to be a blessing for others is not about being seen by people, but it is about being obedient to God as He prompts us to bless another. The things we do in secret will always be noticed by God and He rewards us in abundance.
Who do you lift up?
It always starts at home. Every person has something they believe God for and you can be part of someone’s answer. Every day there are plenty of opportunities to be a blessing to your loved ones, but are you willing to be used as instrument of blessings?
As we stop having a mentality of being served, but to serve and be a blessing for someone else; we will see people’s need to experience God’s touch. Instead of being part of a problem, we could be used to give someone a solution straight from God’s hand.
When we do what God wants us to do for others, we are fed at the same time. God strengthens us and we experience fulfilment beyond what any achievement can give us.
By serving and blessing others, we are indeed being blessed ourselves. It is one thing to receive a blessing, but putting a smile one someone’s face, fulfilling a need and helping someone else to reach their dream bring a new level of satisfaction to your walk with God.
Instead of always wanting to receive a blessing, avail yourself to be a blessing and you will see the presence of God’s love and miraculous powers in a personal way.
