We are all made up of many pieces, some may be broken, others carved to perfection. Looking at each piece on its own may make little sense and even cause confusion, but when we put the pieces together they portray the picture of who we are—A picture which God personally built with intention. Some of the pieces may have lost their original form and colour by the choices we made, but nothing can stop God from still achieving the end result which He always intended for us to have.
Our biggest challenge is to not place all our focus on the brokenness and misfortunes we may face at times, but to take each of those and turn them over to the only One Who can find a way where there is no path left, Who can bring back the colour where it faded and Who can turn any mistake into a new opportunity.
Our brokenness may be caused by our pasts, circumstances, events or even by ourselves. It does not matter whether we asked for it or caused it, they still find their way into our lives as part of the broken world we live in. But take heart, those broken pieces create the platform for God’s beauty and wonders to seep through the cracks of our pictures.
The key does not lie in enlarging our shortcomings and brokenness but in facing the responsibility that it is not for us to solve, but for us to trust God to repair them by turning it over to Him. No amount of self-effort can make whole the broken pieces we have. We may be able to find temporary solutions but sooner than later they will appear again and we will again face the choice of making it our own problem, or entrusting it to God.
Colossians 1:20 “…all broken and dislocated pieces of the universe – people and things,…get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood poured down from teh Cross.” (MSG)
There is ultimately only one way of returning to the orginal picture God had for each of our lives. Where each piece of brokenness and mistake is turned into a kind of beauty you could only have dreamt of, but not seen.
Jesus always managed to turn any dark or misfortunate situation into one of glory and grace. When you lay down your ashes of brokenness before Him, He finds a way to reveal the beauty that was hidden therein.
Let go of your broken pieces today and stop holding on to them as if they define you. Entrust them to Jesus who can bring a fresh meaning and purpose to your brokenness that will enrich the picture of your life and enhance God’s glory that it portrays.
