Life is full of surprises, some better than others. The impact of the change in our circumstances is not found in the change itself but in the way we see it. Do we see it as a threat or as an opportunity to grow? The bigger question is; how do we perceive God in spite of it?

The reality is that circumstances will change, sometimes due to our own doing but often due to things completely out of our control. One thing however remains; nothing is a surprise to God. He sees everything even before it happens, He knows the words you are about to speak, the events that are about to happen and none of them are a surprise to Him.

I want to fasten this truth with you today: No matter your circumstances, God is always the same: yesterday, today and tomorrow. And He is good. (Hebrews 13:8)

Things will happen, changes will take place, our boats me be rocked and we may even find ourselves at times when everything just feels too much, but in those moments I want to encourage you  to not get caught in what you see, but rather get lost in Who you know: Jesus!

Let Him be the grounding you dwell your thoughts on, that you determine your words by and that make you take action. Instead of being overwhelmed by your circumstances, be at rest by Who you know and let the truth of these words dwell in your heart: The battle is the Lord’s.

You may not be able to change your circumstances, but you can chance the way you look at it. I want to share a few truths with you that you can proclaim, no matter what you are facing. By standing on the Word of God, you allow the full power of Jesus to be released in your life:

1.  I am God’s child.
To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

2.  Although I deserve death, Jesus forgave my sins and continues to do so and He promises me eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

3.  I am never alone as God is always with me, no matter what I go through today.
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me”? (Hebrews 13:5-6)

4.  I can face whatever comes my way because God gives me the power to do so.
I can do all things through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)

5.  God has gone through this day and His plans for me are good.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)

6.  God is continually working in and through me.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advanced for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

7.  As I walk with God, He will use even the worst thing in my life for my good.
We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Don’t wait for the surprises and challenges to come before you start building your faith on the Word of God. Start today by declaring these truths over your life and see the hand of God wherever you go.
