Have you been facing circumstances that are harsh and even unbearable at times? May you have been praying for God to deliver you but you have failed to see His breakthrough. Maybe you have been waiting for answers on your “why” question only to hear the silence in response.

Have you ever considered the possibility that your greatest victory lies hidden in your current unbearable circumstances?

Moses found himself in a similar predicament. When he was a baby, the Pharaoh order that all baby boys should be killed at birth. Moses’ mother hid him in a basket in the Nile River in an attempt to protect him from murder at the hands of the Pharaoh. The small basket in which his mother hid him kept him safe until Pharaoh’s daughter found him in the Nile. Pharaoh’s daughter did not know how to look after the baby and called on a Hebrew woman, Moses’ mother to look after him and to nurse him. The Pharaoh’s daughter even paid Moses mother to look after her own son. Moses was adopted by the Pharaoh’s daughter and raised in Pharaoh’s house as an Egyptian. In Moses’ story we see how God used Moses’ worst moment to raise him to the next level God meant for him to step into. God delivered Moses in the most unexpected way as He used the very one who wanted to destroy him, to also protect him and raise him up.

Later, when the boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh’s daughter, who adopted him as her own son. The princess named him Moses, for she explained, “I lifted him out of the water.” (Exodus 2:10 NLT)

In a similar way, Jesus was protected from the beginning by God when Herod ordered all Hebrew baby boys to be murdered. As in the case of Moses, God was one step ahead of Herod and protected Jesus from the destruction when an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and guided him, Mary and baby Jesus away from the enemy. God positioned Jesus to fulfil God’s appointed plan for his life and no evil plans or bad circumstances could come in God’s way. In fact, God used those circumstances to position Moses and Joseph towards His divine destiny for them.

After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

That night Joseph left for Egypt with the child and Mary, his mother, and they stayed there until Herod’s death. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: “I called my Son out of Egypt.” (Matthew 2:13-15 NLT)

What does this mean for you and me?

In the same way that God had great plans for Moses and Jesus, He has great plans for you and me. If you find yourself in a dark place and you fail to see the way out, just look towards Jesus and He will use the very circumstances you find yourself in to raise you onto the platform He purposed for your life.

He sees your circumstances and your struggles and they come as no surprise to Him. While you may not see the way out, He has already ordained the path towards a greater victory through your current storm and will guide you by the hand. Will you take His hand today?
