Let’s say you have a knowing in your heart that God wants you to do something or maybe He placed a dream in your heart or He gave you a promise. It seems impossible to become a reality but you have this undeniable certainty that it will happen. A knowing deposited into your heart from which there is no escape.
What does it mean?
To have faith means to have the ability to believe in something not yet visible to the human eye. But to believe like Jesus is a special kind of faith that we cannot have by ourselves. We need it to be deposited into our hearts to believe something bigger than what we can understand. When we experience this faith, it is like having a small part of God’s perfect confidence given to us by the Holy Spirit. It is Jesus’ unwavering faith that He establishes in our hearts while we look unto Him.
Hebrews 12:2 says, “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” The faith spoken of in Hebrews 12:2 is the ability to see what is not there and to believe that it will be. A faith of which Jesus is the source. It is not our mere human faith which is fallible depending the circumstances we are facing. It is a confidence you place in God that He will provide for you in His way and time. It is what I call “Jesus-faith”.
In this world it is so easy to take our eyes of Jesus and focus on the circumstances around us or on ourselves that we miss the purpose that God has for us in this world. God does not need perfect people; He needs available people who are willing to do the work that He has set out for them to do. We do not even have to do it in our own powers, as He will equip us with everything we need to fulfill our purpose. If we can learn to place our eyes and our thoughts unto Jesus, we are halfway to the finish line. If our focus remains on Him, the things that happen around us will not distract us, as Jesus’ Light keeps it from stealing the seed of faith He placed in our hearts.
How did Jesus exercise His faith?
We read in Mark 11:23-24 that we should believe and speak it forth: “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” It works the same way for us today, when we believe, we should speak it and then we receive whatever we have spoken by faith.
When Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two fish in Mark 6:41, He looked up to heaven, blessed it and had faith that it will be enough for the five thousand people, excluding women and children, and it was. There remained twelve baskets full. It was the same faith Jesus had in John 11:41-42 when He went to Lazarus’ tomb, thanked God that He already heard His prayer and spoke to Lazarus to wake up. And Lazarus came from the tomb—alive. Jesus had unwavering faith in God’s ability to provide what He asked for and knew that it will happen.
When we have faith like Jesus, we have such a strong belief in something that nothing or no-one can cause us to doubt. We already see something, as it should be although it is not yet there. We speak life into a dream or promise that only has a seed and there is an unfailing belief that it will happen. We know that in our own powers it is not possible to bring it to pass but with God anything is possible (Luke 18:27).
Can I have this kind of faith?
Every believer can have Jesus-kind of faith. Thus, as a child of the Almighty God, you have the Holy Spirit inside you and through Him, Jesus’ faith is deposited into you to become everything God created you to be.
We should not fall for the deception of the devil that we are not worthy to be used by God. All the apostles in the time of Jesus were everything but perfect, but they were willing to give themselves and their desires up to be taught and used by Jesus. The whole point is that if we are going to focus on our own abilities, we will always fall short and will not be good enough, but if we allow Jesus to come and operate through us, we can move mountains through His powers that work through us.
Unbelief, fear and doubt are things that can prevent us from standing strong in our faith. These are the enemy’s tactics to try and steal our faith, which is our trust in God to do what He promised to do. We should not be blind to the danger of unbelief as it can cause our hearts to be hardened and lead us to missing our calling in Jesus.
When we take a bold stance and trust God for something in our lives, then speak it into existence as if we already received it, it will come to pass. Faith is attractive to God and without faith it is impossible to please God. Speak what God places in your heart and do not doubt, then you will have what you have spoken.
