Throughout my life I have been taught that Jesus died for my sins and He took all my sickness on Him so that I can live a healthy life—My God is a God of healing. Being the one born with a disability I often asked God to heal me from my disability, a disease or sickness, but did I really believe He can do this for me?
I know God heals, but do I believe that He wants to heal me?
I have seen many people prayed for and they were healed. I have read many testimonies where God came and miraculously healed a person from a lifelong or life-threatening disease. I had enough evidence to know that God heals people. I prayed and asked Him for my healing, but I did not see it. The more I pondered on the fact that God heals, and studied His word, I truly started to believe that it was possible for me too. But it was when I studied the following and heard sermons on it that I knew God wants to and will heal me:
“Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached Him and knelt before Him. ‘Lord,’ the man said, ‘if You are willing, You can heal me and make me clean.’ Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ He said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” (Matthew 8:2-3, NLT)
It was no longer a matter of whether God wants to heal me, because He does, but whether I believed that He is willing. I realised that He is more willing to heal me than what I was to be healed. I should just stand in faith and in His destined time I will experience His divine healing manifest in my life. Even though I did not have the once off miracle in my life, I believed that every day I was getting a little better.
I no longer try to earn my healing by praying hard and thinking that it depends on me, but I become still and only believe in Jesus to make it happen. Every time that I partake in the Holy Communion as I feel prompt to do, I see my disability and diseases on Jesus on the cross, and myself whole and healed because of His sacrifice. I reached a point where I no longer looked for my healing, but live it even though the facts do not always convey the same message, but I know that God is already working behind the scene for me.
It takes all the pressure off me to try and make something happen in my life. I am able to rest at God’s feet and wait on Him. While I am doing that, I meditate on His promises for me. The more I look at God’s promises for me, the more I understand His heart for me. The love that God has for me exceeds any trouble I could ever experience in my life. It was that same love that led Jesus to sacrifice Himself for me that brought my divine health into my life.
Today I am walking in the promise of divine health not because of anything that I do, but only because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
