The first thought that comes to mind when there is something I want is that I will work for it and earn it. Why? I am not sure I know the answer to that question, but my best bet is that our human nature is that we want to work for everything. It is very difficult for me to let someone else do something for me or to just receive a gift or a blessing.

All I really do at the end of the day is making life a lot harder for myself than what it ought to be. God gave us one another to help in times of need, to share in our burdens and to bless one another. The same applies when it comes to God. He has so much to offer me, in fact, He has everything to offer me, but do I receive it? It is not a question of whether I want it, because I do, I want everything God has in store for me, but it is often a matter that I do not think I REALLY need it (as if I would know better than God what I need and don’t need) and also that I do not always think I deserve everything God has in store for me.

A valuable lesson I learnt is that God wants us to let go of everything—all the self-efforts, all the ideas of how we think it should work, all the perceptions about Him and to just let Him be God to us.

God wants us to let go and let Him…

Let go of our heartaches and let Him loves us with His everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).

Let go of our self-efforts and let Him do His perfect work in us while we rest in Him (Hebrews 4).

Let go of always trying to solve the messes we get ourselves in and trust in Him and let Him work everything for our good (Romans 8:28).

Let go of figuring out our lives and let Him fulfil His good plan of hope through us (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let go of all the condemnation and let Him set us free from our burdens and sins (Romans 8:1).

Let go of our wants and let Him fulfil our needs (Psalm 23).

Let go of all our fears and let Him keep us under the shadow of His wing (Psalm 91).

Let go of all the anger and let Him fill our hearts with a new song every morning (Psalm 40:3).

Let go of our self-efforts and let Him give to us everything He has for us! This does not mean we can become lazy and do nothing, but our works become God-inspired activity because we know God works behind the scenes and bring things to pass. Our results are not dependent on our efforts, but on our faith in God.

Let go of your anger and frustrations and let Him be your peace (John 14:27).

Just let go and let Him fill our hearts and mind with Who He is!

It takes a choice every day to give up what we want for ourselves and to take on what God wants for us. Even though it may be difficult at times, it will always turn out better than what we could imagine. When we let God be in control, we position ourselves to conquer heights we would never have reached through our own efforts.
