Do you sometimes find yourself losing your calm and collected posture? Oh, how wrong of you to be like that…join the club!
Being a mother of two girls, the one 17 months and the other 5 weeks, I have had my fair share of losing my calm and collected face by being irritated and frustrated; completely failing myself of the expectations I have of myself of being a good mother.
I am sure if my little girl could say something it would be something like, “Mommy, you are crazy!” Or “Mommy, you are a scary lady!”
Every time that I become irritated, I condemn myself. I do not need anybody else telling my how wrong I am. Then, after condemning myself, I feel guilty and promise myself I will make it up to my girls, husband and whoever else might have been at the receiving end!
A messy situation if you ask me and lots of empty promises….
I realised I needed a Plan B. Something I should have done in the first place. Prayer.
The response came quickly and the frightening truth resonated on the inside, “My child, you are still and will always be the righteousness of God in Christ!”
What is it that you allow to frustrate and irritate you? What or who gets under your skin?
It is different for everyone. Mine might be my lack of sleep and taking on too much at times, maybe for you it is work, a relationship, family, or whatever it might be, but today I invite you to join me to take on the challenge that God places at our feet—to walk in victory over our frustrations and messes we often create ourselves.
When you meet that moment of frustration, stop before you act and remind yourself of your righteousness in Christ. As you focus on your righteousness instead of your emotions and feelings you will react differently to the circumstances because when your mind is on Christ you will have a hard time to disappoint Him!
Two scriptures that I try and make my own in everything I do:
Romans 8:1 “There are therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” (NKJV)
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (NKJV)
They are yours for the taking!
Join me on a journey to fight our messes (even if they include ourselves) with our righteousness in Christ. That is the only chance we have of making less messes and walk in victory.
