Hebrews 10:36: “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” (ESV)

The day I chose a walk of faith with God I was not fully aware of what it might entail. I was hoping for only good times but a reality check quickly made me realize that in spite of what I believe I will still be going through difficult times. My circumstances will still sometimes be the opposite of what I believe it to be. The facts I will be facing at times will still be different from the truths I read about in the Bible. So the question I asked myself was what am I going to do when I believe for something, I declare it but for some time I see nothing changing?

A question with no easy answer: If I want to see God’s will come to pass I cannot do it on my terms, it has to be on His.

It is difficult when you believe for a situation to change, you declare the truth and you are standing in faith for it to happen but then a week, a month or maybe years go by and nothing changes. What do you do then? Maybe you are praying for healing or a breakthrough in your financial situation or in a relationship. Maybe you are praying for your spouse you still need to meet or a work position or goal that has been the desire of your heart for a very long time but has not yet come to pass?

Don’t give up. This is where our walk of faith kicks in.

God is still in control, He knows exactly what He is dong and where you are. He is positioning you for your next opportunity even in your greatest opposition. It is during these times of seeing no result that God is building our character, He is strengthening our faith and preparing us for what He is planning for us. Seasons that may be feeling like you are going a few steps back are merely God moving you from one position to another that will take you to a higher place. Nothing that happens to us happens without a good reason.

When God is in control of our lives, our seasons of disappointments, bad breaks and rejection will be short and turn into divine positioning, supernatural breakthroughs and graceful relationships beyond our imagination. Take heart that whatever you are going through is divinely orchestrated by God for a heavenly set up to raise you to a higher place.

Joseph received a dream from God when He was still a young man that he would rule over a nation. His brothers were very jealous of him and sold him as a slave. Now I am sure that when Joseph was a slave he might have wondered where God was in all of this, and what about the big dreams God had for him.

Despite Joseph’s circumstances, God was with him and he was a successful man (Genesis 39:2). God used each of his difficulties to set him up for a new promotion until he eventually became second in command of Egypt and ruled a nation. The only thing Joseph did was to stay true to His walk of faith with God and to persevere in spite of his dark circumstances.

When we look at Abraham and Sarah’s story we learn another valuable lesson about persevering in our walk of faith with God. God gave them a promise that they will have a son while both of them were beyond the childbearing age. God’s promise seemed impossible in light of their circumstances, so they tried to make God’s promise come to pass by their own efforts. Abraham slept with Sarah’s servant Hagar and she gave birth to a son. However, this son was not the child God promised and neither did it change God’s plan. It only caused them more trouble on the way to their promise. Only when God’s time arrived for His promise to come to pass did He renew Sarah’s youth and she gave birth to Isaac.

Nothing we do can force God’s promises and will for our lives to come to pass. Everything happens in His time and His way. Our efforts could only cause us unnecessary detours which were never intended by God.

Make a stance to walk every day by faith. Keep declaring God’s promises throughout the Bible over your life and continue to stand. Keep your eyes on Jesus and do not let circumstances dim the fire of your faith in Christ.

Always remember, no opposition or circumstance can withhold the supernatural opportunities God ordained for your life.
