Are you facing any challenges? Do you find yourself at times asking, “What am I going to do?”. If there are people in your life knowing what you are going through they may be asking you, “What are you going to do?”
God tells us the battle we are facing is not ours to fight, but His (2 Chronicles 20:15).
Jehoshaphat faced a multitude of enemies. But instead of focusing on what he would do, he prayed, “O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You” (2 Chronicles 20:12).
When you find yourself in the midst of your battle and you turn your eyes to God, He is not shaken or taken by surprise with what you are facing, because He is in control. If you lean into Him you will hear Him say, “Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s…You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord” (2 Chronicles 20:15, 17).
Whatever we are facing, we want to make sure we do our part to make things work out, but that is not what God wants us to do. He wants us to stand still and see Him fight for us.
If you are faced in a battle at work, in a relationship, at home or in your finances, stand back and look to God to fight for you.
What are you supposed to do?
Like Jehoshaphat who sent his singers to the front of the army to proclaim, “Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever” (2 Chronicles 20:21), so you should continue to praise God while He is fighting your battle. This does not mean you sit and do nothing.
Each situation will have a different expectation from you, but you should not be worrying yourself about it and do not trust in what you do to provide an outcome. Like Jehoshaphat, rest and trust in His mercy that endures forever.
In Psalm 110:1 we read “Yahweh said to my Lord, the Messiah: “Sit with me as enthroned ruler while I subdue your every enemy. They will bow low before you as I make them a footstool for your feet.” (TPT)
God says in this passage to Jesus that He must sit on the throne and see how God puts His enemies under His feet. The same way Jesus sits at God’s right hand, He wants us to take a position of rest and trust in Him and see how He fights our battles for us.
Make this declaration part of your daily life, “the battle is the Lord” and watch the Lord working everything for your good.
