God has given all of us a heavenly calling—a calling that starts with Jesus. There are no qualifications needed to fulfil our calling. There is no status involved when it comes to the calling of God on our lives, because it does not depend on our goodness but on the power He places in us and how He equips us for His purpose.

Life has many demands which often feel unmanageable. When we tend to do things through our own efforts we are almost guaranteed to end up in this uncomfortable rut more often than we wish.

When it comes to the calling God has for us, there is a promise that accompanies such a calling.

Ephesians 1:13 ”In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, the praise of his glory.” (ESV)

The day we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are deposited with His promise of the Holy Spirit. Our bodies become His dwelling place (1 Corinthians 6:19). The only way we can operate inside the will of God for our lives is by paying attention to the soft Voice of the Holy Spirit that provides us guidance in everything. The Holy Spirit equips us in everything we are required to do.

When the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we have Jesus in us. Whatever Jesus possesses, we possess because of His presence in us—a knowing that could change the course of our lives every day. The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:17, as Jesus is, so are we in this world. Now, through the Holy Spirit we are enabled to make this a truth and reality in our lives.

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (ESV)

When Jesus went back to His Father in heaven, He gave us the Holy Spirit to teach us all things. We should have no fear of all the demands of this world, because the Holy Spirit teach us in all the knowledge we need of Jesus as well as in our everyday lives. There are no limits to the teachings the Holy Spirit provides us. The only thing required from us is to allow Him and to listen to His guidance. We should not limit Him in thinking some things are too small or simple to expect His help. No, He knows everything and wants to teach us ALL things. Not only the things that we see as big and important but also the small and insignificant things in our eyes as they are most often more important to Him than we know.

When we are weak and do not know what to do, the Holy Spirit is the source of our wisdom and understanding. He gives us the guidance and strength to get up and walk the road ahead of us. He does not settle for our weakness. He strengthens us to follow Jesus and to stay on course. We have a choice in every situation to follow His guidance as He is gentle and will not force anything upon us, but He will endure and remain until the day we see the value we have in Him, in us. (Isaiah 11:2)

The Holy Spirit is our Chain breaker. Life sometimes binds us through depression, hurt, work, self-righteousness or even by feelings of not being good enough. No chain of bondage can last against the presence of the Holy Spirit. He sets us free beyond our understanding and what at some point might have been our test is turned into our testimony by the grace of God. (2 Corinthians 3:17)

It does not matter how dark our circumstances may seem, it is not the end. In Jesus we always have hope as He is hope. We are given the ability to overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. We can choose to keep our eyes fixed on our circumstances, or we can choose to keep our eyes on Jesus that works in our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. A journey where our mountains are turned into smooth pathways, our fears are overtaken with an unshakeable peace and our darkness is embraced by the Light of Hope invested in us.

In Acts 10:38 we find our example of walking in the Holy Spirit in Jesus as He walked on the earth, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to fill Him with power to fulfil God’s plan for Him, how much more don’t we need it today? Jesus portrayed the life we are meant to have by walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, we can no longer play the card of ignorance as He showed us the way.

How do we see Christ’s glory in our lives?

2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (NKJV)

We cannot fulfil our God-given purpose through our own efforts. We cannot change anything about ourselves through our willpower. For as long as we focus on ourselves, we will be limited by our own power. God does not want us to be focused on ourselves but on Jesus. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, there is no limit to the improvement He can bring about to our lives. We no longer focus on our flesh but on the infallible power of the Holy Spirit.

To be transformed and experience the full power of the Holy Spirit in us, we should keep our eyes on Jesus, see Him in every situation, and look for His wisdom, grace and compassion. As we keep beholding Jesus, The Holy Spirit works on the inside and transforms us into the same image as Christ. We will experience the glory and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives and see moments of brightness become an eternity of Light.
