Have you found yourself in a space where you are ashamed of yourself or the battles you are facing or the circumstances that you had to deal with in your life?

You are not alone. We are all in the same boat because if we are honest with ourselves, no one is proud of their weaknesses or “not so pleasant circumstances”.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12:9-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

The world may view our brokenness as a weakness, but God sees it as an opportunity to reveal His glory to the world. A world that is desperate for His love.

Are you willing to change your perspective on how you are viewing your brokenness in light of God’s purpose through it?

God can let His glory shine through us whether we are broken or whole but if we are broken, we have hope because of Him. Because of our brokenness, there is ample opportunity for God to share His light through us to the world.

There is a well-known story that illustrates this point so beautifully. A little boy was visiting his grandfather and his grandfather gave him a command. He must fill up a bucket, carry it along the path and bring it to his grandfather. The little boy would do so and carry it along the path but every time he got to the other end of the path the bucket would be empty. He would be discouraged but his grandfather would send him back and he would do it all over again – fill the bucket and carry it along the path. But since the bucket had cracks in it, it was empty every time he reached his grandfather. The little boy just wanted to quit as it seemed pointless to him to carry water in a bucket full of cracks.

A few months later when the boy walked along the same path he was amazed at the beautiful flowers that sprung up alongside the path. He never knew about the seeds that his grandfather had sown. Even though carrying the cracked bucket seemed pointless to the boy, the grandfather saw a perfect purpose for that cracked bucket and he used it to water the seeds he had sown.

It works the same with us today. Our brokenness may seem pointless to us, but it is never pointless to God. He uses our brokenness to water the seeds He planted in the world.

Never underestimate God’s purpose, no matter how pointless or hopeless circumstances may seem.

When we are strong there is little need for God to help us, but when we are weak, His greatness can flow through our lives and every bit of our brokenness can be turned into beauty as His grace flows through it.

We may look at one another with different degrees of brokenness, but to God our brokenness are all the same – a perfect opportunity for us to be strengthened by His grace and used for His good purpose for our lives.

Embrace your brokenness and let God amaze you with His purpose that will be served through you if you will only allow Him.
