John 1:16 “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” (NKJV)
We are all often made aware of our shortcomings, whether it be in our physical appearance, abilities or in who we or other people perceive us to be. But is there more to us than meets the eye? Do we possess a value that maybe we are not even aware of?
The answer: Yes.
In Christ we are made complete. All our weaknesses becomes strengths through Him who perfects it in us. As we take our eyes off our shortcomings and start seeing who Jesus is, we see the complete picture we have in Him. We are deposited with a fullness by His grace. Whatever lack we might suffer are taken away and He replaces it with a fullness that cannot be bought. The completeness we receive in Christ is not the kind that can be earned, but merely received. He holds it out to us to receive it by faith in Him.
Our completeness in Christ is not something we must still receive, we have all already received it (“and of His fullness we have all received”). The question is, “have we made it our own?” A person can have an inheritance but if he does not claim it and make it his own, it will not become a reality for that person. The same can happen with who we are in Christ. If we do not make the truth that we are complete in Christ our own, we could live a life filled with lack, which is not God’s will for us.
The fullness we receive in Christ is by grace and the measure of grace is not depended on how good we are, but it is all about how good Jesus is and what He has already done for us on the cross. When He fills us with His grace, there is no end to it. The more we experience the fullness of His grace in our lives, the more we will move from strength to strength.
The fullness Christ brings to us is established in eternity. There is nothing temporary about it like most things we find in this world. The happiness and riches that the world can offer us make us feel satisfied for only a short period of time before we start looking for more. When it comes to the fullness that Christ gives us, we enjoy an endless satisfaction.
If you think about your own life, is there an area where you feel something is missing? The supply thereof is not found in a measure of this world, it is found in Christ. He possesses what you are looking for, but are you looking in the right place? If you come to Jesus and let Him fill you with His fullness which is already yours, you will be satisfied.
Once the fullness of Christ flows through our lives it will overflow into every area—our family, relationships, work, health, finances and into everything we put our hands to. It is not the kind of fullness that you can keep to yourself, it overflows and bring fullness to those you encounter as the Holy Spirit works through you. When the living waters of Christ flows through your heart, words and hands, it brings fullness to the next person as they experience Jesus and desires a personal relationship with Him.
The fullness of Christ nourishes the starving souls of this world and with it comes a renewed purpose for every person who chooses to receive Christ into their lives. Choose today to receive the fullness of Christ which is already yours and allow Him to use you to bring it to others.
